The Economist asks: Does sex matter in a marriage? (SPOILER! It does)

The Economist magazine (of all places!) had an interesting article on sex and satisfaction with your partner in a marriage.

In a study that from Psychological Science, they say 50% of people agree that sex doesn’t matter to a happy marriage…but then that leaves the other half of the subjects who say it does! The authors of the study also said that they suspect that it matters more to that first 50% then they’re letting on.

“Ms Hicks and her colleagues found that although the frequency with which couples have sex does not have much correlation with how satisfied they claim to be with their partner, it correlates well with their automatic attitudes towards one another. Those who said they had sex with their spouse two or more times a week reacted more quickly to positive words and more slowly to negative ones after seeing an image of said spouse.”
